We speak to Tereza H, who keeps us on the straight and narrow when it comes to all things SEO, strategy and data!
Hi Tereza, where are you from and what do you study?
Hi! I am from the Czech republic, but I have been studying at Northumbria University here in Newcastle since 2017, with the exception of study abroad semester in Sweden and my placement year. I study Business with Marketing Management and am currently in my final year after I did my business placement in the Czech republic and Denmark.
How did you first become interested in business and entrepreneurship?
I was not sure what career I wanted to pursue up until I was at high school, but I have always been interested in marketing and psychology, and the business area just seemed to make sense because one does not profile themselves for a too narrow profession yet. Also, I think that you can utilise all sorts of different skills in business, ranging from creativity to data analysis, which is what I like about the whole field.
Would you like to have your own business in the future? What are you career plans?
At the moment, my plans are to find a job after I finish my degree in May 2021, develop some new skills and from there I will see. Having a business and being my own boss would certainly be great, but I do not have any specific idea in mind as of yet.
What sort of things have you been doing at Studio Courtenay?
Since I have joined studio Courtenay, known as Trendlistr before we rebranded, I have been involved in Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and e-commerce in general. Also, I do a lot of product photos in our photo studio, look for PR opportunities and ideas for social media content that we can put together in the studio.
What do you like about working here?
I like that the team is not too big so I get to meet everyone from the company personally, and also my tasks are very diverse so I get to try a lot of new things. I may be working on SEO one day, and the other day I am doing product photos in the atelier and SWOT analysis. Also, my working hours are very much flexible which is extremely important to me as I am still studying full-time.
Who are your biggest inspirations?
I do not have any specific fashion icons/inspirations in mind, but I am a big fan of the Scandinavian minimalistic style and I also adore the clothing style of the French blogger Jeanne Damas and similar, so I look for a lot of inspiration on Pinterest. That is probably my most favourite platform when it comes to inspiration.
What do you love the most about fashion? Who is your fashion icon?
I like that fashion is changing all the time and is the reflection of person’s and/or society’s attitudes and changes within. It provides everyone with the opportunity to express themselves without having to say a thing.
Do you have any recommendations for websites or podcasts we should be subscribing to?
I am 100% loyal to Pinterest and lookbook.nu! Following individuals on social media is great, but if you are after a little bit more of diversity, this is where you find it.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
I really like to do sports, so I often do yoga or go jogging when I am in the UK. Also, I am trying to educate myself on entrepreneurship and business in general via business podcasts that I randomly find on Spotify. Last but not least, since I started to be interested in the stock market a few months ago, it has taught me a lot about the business field from a completely different perspective.
What does the next year hold for you?
Next year, I will graduate from the university and will hopefully find a job somewhere in the business field. As far as other plans are concerned, I have not planned more than that as the current COVID-19 situation is just so unpredictable, so everything I plan are always some last-minute ideas.
